 Worlds invades cinema
Let's say it once for all.
After ten years of adventure we found ourselves surrounded by lots of
independent video festivals.
In 1997 there were very few of us and creating a new space, lively and
independent was a very stimulating challenge.
Today we feel that the tide of our enthusiasm is moving in another
direction.
Thus, This is why we have decided to re-invent ourselves
for the umpteenth time.
IN SHORT
In short our choice goes towards two directions: on the one side we would
like to oppose the chaotic proliferation of digital images with the precise
attention, almost fussy, on single works, trying, instead to invade the
world with images - an invasion of images with pieces of the world.
On the other side, we would like to claim and to radicalize once again one
of our grounding ideas: A horizontal film festival without contest and
without the obsession for the première.
This is how the idea of a new toniCorti, which merged completely with
Itaca, was born.
Making it pace of world and worlds around video tales.
We are doing this without giving up our freedom and independence,principles
that we have always supported and promoted.
YOU ARE INVITED
Citizens of every age, nationality and culture are invited to send their own
videos without worrying about length, format, contents.
toniCorti will organise two events: for the first one, within Festival Itaca
(September 2008, Bastione Santa Croce, Padova), only some of the works will
be chosen and they will be the pivot of entire nights at Itaca Festival.
The choice will not only be on the filmical interest of these works, but
also according to whether those works are suitable to build moments of
contact, entertainment, discussion, reflection, celebration, distraction,
destruction, distribution connected to the contents and/or to the forms of
the works themselves.
So the chosen movies will accompanied by dinners, concerts, performances,
plays, meetings, conferences, ceremonies, installations, aperitives,
singings, dances and cotillion.
As we have said above, there are no limits of length, format, contents, but
we invite you, if you wish, to suggest ideas to organize "invasions" inside
the world of their own film.
If you think that your film can go with a conference about nuclear physics,
or with a show of Finnish dance, or with a Romagna kitchen feastŠ just say
it, it will help the film be selected.
We have thought of a second moment event because we know you may not feel
like proposing invasions - and we do not want to force you and because
besides wanting to concentrate on a few works and give them plenty of space,
we also want to be able to show all the things - often of a high and
unexpected quality - that we receive every year. The second event will take
place in November in a cinema: a more "classic" festival with projections
and public presentations of the films, when all the authors will be invited.
HOW TO PARTECIPATE
The whole thing will take place in Padua at the end of August/beginning of
September.
Both your films and your proposal of "invasion" will have to reach us by
30th June, 2008 in DVD (please, max 2x and hard-covered), or MiniDv or VHS
BUT ALWAYS with your entry form filled and printed AND sent to the Email
